How to overcome cravings?
How are you?
Are you succumbing to bugs and/or feeling low?
Autumn is a trickier time than Summer as our lymph switches direction and naturally thickens.
Coupled with darker days and typically less activity especially outdoors, we're prone to stagnate or certainly our lymph is which, if we're toxic and dehydrated from 1 too many glasses of wine, bars of chocolate, reliance on convenience foods plus stress, it's a recipe for a disaster.
Colds, bugs etc. are opportunistic. In fact, any viral activity takes place in a body that provides the ideal terrain so to avoid them:
1. keep drinking that water
2. Eat a swollen diet - veg, fruit, short-grain brown rice, quinoa
3. Eat unprocessed fresh healthy proteins like chicken, fish and eggs.
Now this is all very well if you're feeling strong, competent and focused on feeling good and healthy but what if things don't feel that way?
What if you're stressed out and continuing life-long patterns of comfort eating or drinking to try to feel better?
It can feel hopeless to keep on the straight and narrow, can't it?
A recent client had just such a problem.
He just couldn't control his sugar and chocolate addiction
No matter what he did, come the evenings, he would succumb and feel intense dismay the following day.
Do you feel like this?
Do you long to be free of your life-long addiction?
Or maybe it's not an addiction. Maybe it's difficult relationships or work issues?
Well, look no further.
I can offer you simple strategies and techniques to get underneath why these things are happening and what you can do about them.
And when it comes to comfort eating, you don't have to embark on an onerous, restrictive diet to do it.
The simple acknowledgement of what you've been through in your life is enough to start the ball rolling, to identify your coping mechanisms, where they came from and recognise your self-sabotaging thoughts and patterns driving you to seek comfort in unhealthy foods or to not stand in your power in relationships for eg.
If you're ready to do the deep-dive into your patterns and habits that are causing you to feel tired, drained, unmotivated. To gain weight and feel depressed, now is the time as we approach the end of a pretty turbulent year all round.
This is your time to feel good about yourself and prepare yourself for a new you in 2021.
Imagine feeling strong, healthy, excited and motivated to be alive!
This is your time to know that whatever you want is possible and I can help you discover and create simple steps to get there.
The 1st step is acknowledgement.
The 2nd step is action.
My client had never sought help before..
Only when he couldn't bear it any longer, when he'd tried years and years of different self-help approaches did he finally seek help.
It was a relief and a delight to him that all the strategies he'd tried before weren't wrong, he just hadn't identified the thoughts that triggered him and developed simple strategies to overcome them.
“Sophie was amazing in helping me tackle my eating disorder. Through a number of sessions she uncovered the underlying causes and then helped me to address them. By the final session I had finally cracked it – it was a real revelation to finally realise, with Sophie’s help, that I could successfully manage this life-long affliction. It was nothing short of life-changing. I am very grateful to Sophie for this and would highly recommend her”. JL

NB: please note my client’s reference to his condition as an “eating disorder” does not mean he was medically diagnosed as such. Serious eating disorders such as anorexia and bulima come under the remit of mental health and may need the support of a variety of professional services.
